According to Kajol, actors take the responsibility of being heroes "very seriously: 'As if the fate of industry depends on them...'

Actress Kajol has stated that heroes have a responsibility to “be something,” which they take “very seriously.” Kajol also stated in a new interview that it appeared ‘as if the fate of the entire industry rests on their super broad shoulders.’ The actor also stated that she is free to ‘choose and grow.’

Kajol also discussed the difference between film promotions now and in the past. She had previously stated that they would only do “two interviews, two photo shoots, and one premiere.” ‘100 other things have come up,’ the actor added.

“I believe that heroes in fact have this responsibility on them to be something, to be heroes, and that they take that responsibility very seriously, as if the fate of the entire industry rests on their super broad shoulders,” Kajol told Indian Express. So, while I have the freedom to choose, I also have the freedom to grow and become something else. But I believe that right now, these contemporary heroes you’re referring to, bear a lot of responsibility, and I believe they all take it very seriously.”

When asked how a film is promoted now, Kajol said, “Pehle hum do interviews, do photo sessions karke khatam kar dete the, wahi pe baat khatam ho jaati thi, and one premiere (we used to do two interviews, two photo shoots, and one premiere and that was all there was to promoting the film).” But now it’s about social media and a hundred other things that have come up; it’s about events, it’s about using the exposure that exists because of all the different social media avenues.”

Fans will next see Kajol in Salaam Venky, directed by Revathy. The story is about a mother who fights through every obstacle her son faces and helps him live life to the fullest. Vishal Jethwa will play Kajol’s son, Venkatesh aka Venky, in the film.

In addition to Kajol and Vishal, the film stars Rahul Bose, Rajeev Khandelwal, Prakash Raj, and Ahana Kumra in key roles. A cameo appearance by Aamir Khan is also planned. Salaam Venky, produced by Suuraj Sinngh, Shraddha Agrawal, and Varsha Kukreja under the banners BLIVE Productions and RTAKE Studios, is set to hit theatres on December 9.
