Aditya Roy Kapur comes from a film family, despite the fact that his parents are not actors. Kunaal Roy Kapur, Aditya’s elder brother, is an actor who began his career in theatre before moving on to Bollywood. Siddharth Roy Kapur, their eldest brother, is a film producer who is married to actress Vidya Balan.
Aditya Roy Kapur recently discussed how his family returned to the industry after a generation gap. In the 1940s, Aditya’s grandfather, Raghupat Roy Kapur, was a filmmaker, and his father, Kumud Roy Kapur, became an Army officer. Aditya’s mother, Salome Roy Kapur, was a former model, dancer, and dance instructor who came from an artistic family.
Aditya told Mashable India about his family’s connection to film, “My dadaji came back in the day, he made four films.” Those films didn’t work for whatever reason. Following that, he ceased production. My brothers and mother were all into theatre and dance when we were growing up, and we somehow found ourselves back in the industry after skipping a generation. So, growing up, there was no influence from film because we had no connection to the industry. My dadaji passed away before I was born, and he hadn’t been active in the industry for the last few years. In 2008-09, my brothers and I returned to the industry. And we all came from somewhere.
And we all came from different backgrounds: Siddharth from Star, Kunal from theatre and television, and I from VJing.”
