On Monday, an old video of Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, and Salman Khan standing by actor Anupam Kher after his slap to a journalist surfaced online. Rarephotoclub posted the video to Instagram. In the video, Sanjay Dutt says in Hindi, “Had I been in his shoes, I would have broken everything.”
Salman stated, “Unhone (Anupam) jo thappad mara hai na, accha kiya hai jo maara hai, accha kiya hai jo maara hai. Because yeh jo humari jo image hai, jo hum nahi hai, ghalat image jo portray karrahe hai (He did a good thing by slapping. It’s worse than someone slapping us because they’re slapping us publicly by portraying our false image. People will start believing a lie if you tell it 100 times.”
Later, Anupam Kher discussed how his parents struggled to provide him with an education. He also stated, “Today, my education and manners have gone haywire because I slapped a man who pushed me to the ball. I spent three years training for the National School of Drama, one year training for Indian theatre, three years teaching, and three years sleeping on the road. And then they want to finish that 20-year project in eight years… He has the ability to write for a magazine that sells lies and people’s bedroom stories.”
According to Jackie Shroff, “Leading ladies, or messing around with other girls, or us being bisexual or gay, or something, that’s nonsense. They should be paying attention and discussing our efforts. The entire country enjoys and loves our films. That is the only form of entertainment available. Who has the time to engage in such nonsense?”
A portion of the caption stated, “1992 was an interesting year in which Stardust magazine went too far and enraged many Hindi film industry actors. Anupam Kher slapped a journalist and received widespread support, despite the media’s opposition.” Instagram user @bobbytalkscinema first shared the video.
Anupam will appear in the film The Vaccine War, directed by Vivek Agnihotri. It is scheduled to be released in 11 languages in theatres on July 4, 2023. In addition to Anupam, the film stars Nana Patekar and Sapthami Gowda. Anupam was most recently seen in the family drama Uunchai, in which he co-starred with Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, and Parineeti Chopra, as well as the Netflix series Trial By Fire.
