When asked how Pathaan exceeded all expectations, Anupam was quoted by DNA as saying, “Aap trend dekh ke thodi picture dekhne jaoge. Trend padh ke koi bhi nahi jaata. If a trailer is not available, the film will not be released. Toh duniya ki koi takat nahi rok sakti, jab pitcute aachi hai. No one is influenced to watch a movie because of a trend. You want to see the movie if you liked the trailer. No one has the ability to sabotage a well-made film. People even go to see the film out of vengeance against the hate trend).”
“There was never a cinema boycott. We had been through the Covid pandemic, where there was a lockdown and people were told to stay inside their homes. This occurred after about 100 years. During this stage, audiences look for alternative forms of entertainment. The OTT platforms grew in popularity, and people began watching movies with ease. “It takes time to get them (audiences) out of their fear,” he added.
Anupam will next be seen in Shiv Shastri Balboa. Neena Gupta, Nargis Fakhri, and Sharib Hashmi also play important roles. It is directed by Ajay Venugopalan and produced by Kishore Varieth. It will be released in theatres on February 10th.
