Actress Genelia Deshmukh discussed her acting comeback in Ved, directed by her husband, actor Riteish Deshmukh. She stated that the acting break provided her with a fresh perspective.
Genelia Deshmukh discussed her return to acting after a long break. The actor can be seen in the Marathi film Ved, directed by her husband, actor Riteish Deshmukh. The romantic drama, a remake of the 2019 Telugu film Majili, has performed exceptionally well at the box office.
The actor, who has been in the industry for two decades, made his breakthrough in 2008 with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, in which he starred alongside Imran Khan. She married Riteish on February 3, 2012, and her acting career slowed. Riaan, born in 2014, and Rahyl, born in 2016, are the couple’s two sons. She mentioned that she missed acting while she was away.
Genelia revealed to Mid-Day that she had reservations about returning. “I wondered, ‘Will people like me?'” she said of her maturation over the years. Will the audience come back to see me? ‘Have they progressed?’ But this break provided me with a fresh perspective. It [helped me understand] the roles I want to play. I can’t play Aditi from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na today, but I can play Shravani from Ved. That way, I can connect with the girl who grew up with me, from Aditi to Shravani.”
She made her acting debut alongside Riteish in the 2003 Hindi film Tujhe Meri Kasam as Genelia D’Souza. Her most recent major projects were the Hindi films Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and Naa Ishtam in 2012. She appeared with Riteish in the Hindi films Jai Ho (2014) and Force 2 (2016), as well as the Marathi films Lai Bhaari (2014) and Mauli (2018). With Mauli, she also became a producer. This year, she was also seen in the Shaad Ali-directed comedy Mister Mummy, opposite Riteish.
She also plans to return to the Telugu film industry with an untitled film starring Karnataka’s former minister Gali Janardhan Reddy’s son Kireeti. Radha Krishna will direct the bilingual film in Telugu and Kannada.
