New Delhi: One of the most popular comedies on Indian television Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been functioning for almost a decade with great success. Fans like watching the programme, and the main characters have earned a particular place in their hearts. Needless to say, Dayaben is much missed on the programme!
DAYABEN IS BACK ON TAARAK MEHTA…
However, it appears that the character of Dayaben will return with a bang, but without Disha Vakani, who portrayed the role with zeal for the longest period before taking a maternity leave from the programme five years ago. Producer Asit Kumarr Modi revealed to the Times of India, “Dayaben, the character, is all set to return, but it will not be Disha Vakani.” Auditions for Disha’s successor are now underway, and a new actress will be joining the cast as Dayaben shortly.” Disha stepped away from the show five years ago. So, what took the manufacturers so long to put in a replacement? “The reason it took us so long to replace Disha,” Asit explained “The reason it took us so long to replace Disha is because when she married, she worked for a while.” She then took a hiatus, had a kid, and then took another leave to raise her child. She never got off the show. Disha shall return, humko umeed thi. But then the epidemic happened. During that time, there were far too many limits on shooting. Despite the fact that we were taking all required measures, Disha expressed concern about returning to the set.”
He continued, saying, “We opted to wait for her since she has a long history with the show and is well-liked by the whole cast. We were always optimistic about her reappearance. Even now, she has not submitted her paperwork because it is not necessary in her circumstance. She is like family to me. She recently had a second child and will be unable to return to the show. The tryouts for a new Dayaben are now underway, and we hope to find a suitable actor shortly. The audience will learn more about the show’s new character. We will keep the audience informed.”
