Even though the film fraternity seems glamorous, it’s not the most peaceful place. Actors and directors who work together don’t always become friends, and while they might not say much about it in 2022, the early 2000s were a very different time. In 2005, Esha Deol and Amrita Rao got into a fight that got worse and worse until Esha hit Amrita. She later said that she did not feel bad about what she did.
The thing happened on the set of their movie Pyare Mohan, in which Fardeen Khan and Vivek Oberoi also acted. Esha later talked to The Times of India about what happened. She said that Amrita’s alleged abuse of her made her angry. Esha said at the time, “Amrita insulted me in front of the director, Indra Kumar, and the cameraman, which I thought was totally wrong.”
She also said, “In the heat of the moment, I slapped her to protect my pride and honour. I don’t feel bad about what I did because she deserved it for how she treated me at the time. I just defended myself and my honour.”
Esha said that Amrita later realised she had done something wrong and “apologised” to her. “I forgave her. “It’s all good between us now,” she said. When asked about losing her temper, Esha said that she comes from a “very cultured background” and that it is not in her nature to “do something of this size unless I am provoked to do so.”
At the time, Esha was still riding high from the success of YRF’s Dhoom, and she had already been in popular movies like Kaal and Dus. Amrita was also a well-known actor who had been in movies like Ishq Vishk and Main Hoon Na.
