Farhan Akhtar writes note to fans after cancelling Australia tour: 'Please believe me when I say...'

Farhan Akhtar has disappointed his Australian fans by informing them that he will not be performing in Sydney or Melbourne this weekend.

Farhan Akhtar, the actor-singer, has announced that he will not be able to perform in Australia due to “unforeseen circumstances” less than two days after performing in Pune. Over the weekend, his band FarhanLive was scheduled to perform in Sydney and Melbourne. He took to Instagram to inform his followers of the news.

Farhan posted a message on Instagram with a broken heart emoji. “To my fans in Australia, Due to unforeseen circumstances, our band FarhanLive has had to cancel our Australia tour,” the note said. We will be unable to travel to Sydney or Melbourne this weekend. Please understand that we share your disappointment. However, I hope to visit your lovely country and perform for you in the near future. Farhan, with love.”

Several of his fans voiced their displeasure in the comments section. “Damn!” wrote one fan. I was really looking forward to this!” “Omg sooooo disappointed,” wrote another. “This is not fair,” said another. Some also inquired about refunds and expressed dissatisfaction with the tickets and changes made for the show.”

On Sunday, Farhan performed some of his hit songs, including Solitary Childhood, Pain or Pleasure, and Rock On, at the Vh1 Supersonic Festival. “It’s an honour to be here this evening. “I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today; many things could and did go wrong, but the only right thing here is you,” he said to the large crowd.

On Monday, Farhan had a shared a video from his Pune concert and written on Instagram, “day turned to night, moments strung together, voices and echoes will resonate forever. Last night, your love was SuperSonic… thank you. @vh1supersonic #music #festival #gig #concert #pune.” Farhan’s wife, actress Shibani Dandekar, also attended the Pune concert and cheered him on from the sidelines.

Farhan was most recently seen in the 2021 film Toofan, in which he played a boxer. Last year, he also appeared in the Hollywood web series Ms. Marvel. He is now set to direct Jee Le Zaraa, a film starring Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt, but no official date has been announced.

In an announcement on Instagram, Farhan Akhtar expressed his disappointment and apologised to his fans, saying, “To my fans in Australia, due to unforeseen circumstances our band FarhanLive has had to call off our Australia Tour. Fans were devastated by the abrupt change of plans, with many expressing their disappointment and hoping to see him again soon. Despite the cancellation, the actor’s last performance was a success, as he performed “Solitary Childhood,” “Pain or Pleasure,” and the popular song “Rock On” at the Vh1 Supersonic Festival on Sunday in Pune.
