Yash Raj Films has released a new Shamshera behind-the-scenes video in which actors Vaani Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, director Karan Malhotra, and a few other crew members discuss Vaani Kapoor’s transformation into her character Sona. Vaani described Shamshera as a “beautiful character,” recalling having goosebumps when she heard the narration.
“It’s a beautiful character, very well written,” Vaani said. The girl is very powerful, and she has an arc. It’s a world I’ve never experienced as an actor. It’s uncharted territory for me. He (Karan Malhotra) had a specific vision for Sona, and all I had to do was adapt to his beautiful vision. So now, whenever I look at myself, I appreciate how refreshing Sona is.
Karan Malhotra, the film’s director, stated, “I was really excited to work with Vaani because I believe when I first saw her, I really liked her as a performer.” “I thought she was very young and confident.”
“Even for horse riding, you need that emotional connect with the animal,” Vaani said of horse training. Otherwise, they will throw you off. I recall getting this small packet of biscuits, and the trainer also told me to feed the horse and defend the horse. And they’re so adorable, they’re like the cutest animals.”
Rushi Manoshi, Shamshera’s costume designer, emphasised how they played with the fabric of Sona’s clothes. “At first, we used very primary and beautiful pastel colours, tools, and chiffon.” Then we move on to tough coarse hard malmal and cotton fabrics for her. She blended in so well, and Sona’s arc is one of the most intriguing.”
Vaani elaborated on Sona’s character by stating that she has ada. “She is this flamboyant, beautiful, brave individual.” She is a person with a lot of substance. There is ada in her that allows her to speak her mind. She has a lot of energy and a beautiful heart.”
Co-star Ranbir Kapoor expressed his admiration for Vaani. “She’s a beautiful actress, very hardworking, very committed, and I believe she’s a closet method actor, but the kind of innocence and strength she brought to the character was quite amazing.” “It was a difficult character for her to play, but she did so beautifully, and I am very proud of her work in this film,” he said.
“I got to know her while doing Shamshera and she is a good actor,” said Sanjay Dutt, who plays the villain in the film. I think she was very confident, and she is a fantastic performer and dancer. The most important thing is to be a wonderful person.”
Shamshera releases in theatres on July 22.
