On Wednesday evening, the Mumbai Police arrested Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij’s temporary cook, who allegedly threatened them and their two-year-old daughter Tara with death. According to the latest developments, the cook, Santosh Yadav (40), of Nehru Nagar, Juhu, was arrested and charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after the couple filed a complaint against him. For the uninitiated, Mahhi revealed that the cook threatened her with a ‘khanjar’ and cursed her and her family. In the now-deleted tweets, she discussed the heinous incident with the cook.
A police official was quoted by Mid-day as saying, “The actor contacted the police via Twitter and later lodged a FIR at the Oshiwara police station.” On June 29 evening, the accused was booked under sections 509 (Word, gesture, or act intended to insult a woman’s modesty), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC. On the same day, the police arrested him, and he was brought before the Andheri Metropolitan Court on June 30.”
“I’m sitting at Oshiwara police station scared of me and my daughter’s life help us @MumbaiPolice he openly told me he will kill me with khanjar (dagger) and he will out on bail wow,” Mahhi said in now-deleted tweets.
“Video is with me of him harassing me killing me @MumbaiPolice,” she added. She added in another tweet, “I was terrified for my and my daughter’s lives. Police and Jay apprehended this cook and are now holding him on bail for murdering us. @MumbaiPolice wow marne ke baad morcha nikalna (organise a rally after death), he openly stated, which was shown to the police, ki chaaku maar dunga tujhe (will stab you with a knife).”
Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali married in 2011. In 2019, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Tara. They are both well-known television personalities.
