Kangana Ranaut’s movie Dhaakad may not have done well at the box office, but that hasn’t brought her down. Kangana said on Saturday that the year isn’t over yet and that she has some big movies coming out. She shared a screenshot on her Instagram Stories that said Kangana Ranaut was “the box office queen of India.” Kangana wrote back, “2019 I have Manikarnika, a 160-crore-a-year movie. 2020 was the year of Covid, and 2021 will be the year of Thalaivii, which came out on OTT and was a huge hit.
She said, “I see a lot of curated negativity, but 2022 is the year of the hit movie Lock Upp, and it’s not over yet.” She ended by saying that she has “great hopes” for the coming year. Lock Upp marked Kangana’s debut as a host. It was also her first time on OTT. This year, the show ended. It was said to be ALTBalaji’s biggest show.
Kangana’s film Dhaakad released on May 20 with Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is doing great at the box office and is on its way to making Rs 150 crore. Kangana’s film, on the other hand, did not do well at all. Critics, on the other hand, thought the movie was good.
Shalini Langer, the film critic for the Indian Express, gave the movie 4.5 stars. “And while a lot has been said about Dhaakad (which is a pretty intimidating name) being India’s rare woman-centered action film, there are actually two women who do most of the heavy-lifting here, and they do it pretty easily: Kangana Ranaut as the main character, Agent Agni, and Divya Dutta as Rohini, the brain, the money, the emotional support, and a lot more of a criminal ring that deals in coal and women
She also said, “But the surprise here is Kangana Ranaut, who is very serious and understated as the agent running from a troubled past. This is different from what the film’s marketing might have made you think, and it’s also different from how the actor seems to see herself these days.” Dutta is, of course, good, full stop.”
