In 1975, the country declared a state of emergency. Kangana Ranaut took to social media on the day after the declaration to share the front page of a newspaper. She also shared a brief story from her upcoming film, Emergency. Kangana will play Indira Gandhi in her upcoming film. The actress, who will also direct and produce the film, announced it on her Instagram stories “These were the most dramatic events in the world’s recent history. What caused the state of emergency to be declared today, and what were the consequences?

She went on to say: “The most powerful woman in the world was at the centre of it all.

This is worthy of its own large-scale epic film. So, #Emergency will be in theatres next year.”

Kangana will play late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in a political drama that she will also produce. According to reports, the film will include the Emergency and Operation Blue Star.

Kangana was most recently seen in Dhaakad. The film failed to wow audiences and earned little money at the box office. Aside from Emergency, Kangana is also working on ‘Tiku Weds Sheru,’ a film starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur.
