Kangana Ranaut warns Bollywood to stay away from politics following Pathaan: 'Agar maine phir victory over hatred suna to...'

Kangana Ranaut has been tweeting about Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which has broken several box office records since its January 25 release. Kangana issued a warning to Bollywood, tweeting that people in the film industry should ‘enjoy their success’ and’stay away from politics’ after saying Pathaan paints ‘enemy’ Pakistan in a positive light and slamming those speaking about ‘triumph over hate’ after the film’s success. Pathaan was recently praised on Instagram by actors Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar. While Alia stated that ‘love always wins,’ Karan stated that ‘love forever trumps hate’ in response to Pathaan grossing 106 crore worldwide on its first day.

Kangana Ranaut, who recently returned to Twitter after her account was suspended in 2020 for violating the social media platform’s rules, tweeted on Saturday, “Toh tum logon ki wahi class lagegi jo kal lagi thi (Bollywood people, do not try to project that you are suffering from Hindu hatred in this country. If I hear another comment about “victory over hate,” I’ll take your class). Enjoy your success and do good work; avoid politics.”

In response to her latest tweet, some Twitter users stated that Kangana was ‘desperately’ tweeting about Pathaan for personal gain. According to one tweet, “Chalo Pathaan ko side mein karte hai… another example of ‘victory over hate’ is how your last nine films tanked one after the other. Kangana has been rejected by the audience, and we know you are now desperate to be where Smriti Irani (BJP leader and union minister) is.” Someone else tweeted, “Madam, aap kaha se ho? Is Bollywood really dead? Is it true that you are not from the Bollywood industry?”

Kangana had previously responded to a user who pointed out that her last film, Dhaakad, was a box office flop. Kangana responded to the comment on Friday, saying, “Yes, Dhakad was a historic flop, when did I deny this? This is SRK ji’s first successful film in ten years; we take inspiration from him and hope to be given the same opportunity that India did. After all, India is wonderful and generous, Jai Shri Ram.”

Kangana also addressed those who claim Pathaan is a triumph of love over hate in a series of tweets on Friday. She said the film was ‘running successfully’ in theatres only because of ‘India’s love and inclusiveness’ towards ‘a film called Pathaan’. Kangana stated on Twitter, “I agree with those who claim Pathaan is the triumph of love over hate, but whose love over whose hate? To be more specific, who is purchasing tickets and ensuring the event’s success? Yes, it is India’s love and inclusiveness, where 80 percent of the population is Hindu, and yet a film called Pathan, which portrays our adversary Pakistan and the ISI in a favourable light, is running successfully. It is India’s spirit beyond hatred and judgement that makes it mahan (great)…”
