Maharashtra crisis: Bollywood celebrities have taken to social media to express their views on the appointment of new CM Eknath Shinde and the resignation of Uddhav Thackeray. Shiv Sena rebel group leader Eknath Shinde was named Maharashtra Chief Minister on Thursday, leading a government supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Devendra Fadnavis, a BJP leader and former Chief Minister, made the stunning announcement after meeting with Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Shinde this afternoon.
Several celebrities praised Uddhav Thackeray after the latter chose to resign as Maharashtra Chief Minister late on Wednesday, saying the people would support him for the way he had handled the state. Prakash Raj stated on Twitter shortly after Thackeray announced his resignation, resulting in the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government: “You did an excellent job, sir Uddhav Thackeray, and I am confident that the people of Maharashtra will support you for the way you handled the state. The Chanakyas may eat laddoos today, but your genuineness will last. Much success to you.”
Prakash Raj was not the only one who backed Thackeray. Several other people, including Bollywood stars Urmila Matondkar, Riteish Deshmukh, Swara Bhasker, Rajshri Deshpande, and Kubbra Sait, have expressed their support for him.
“Thank you Uddhav Thackeray ji for your leadership in the most trying times of Covid and keeping our state away from communal hatred and bigotry,” actress Urmila Matondkar tweeted. Your leadership has been exemplary, objective, brave, responsible, transparent, and communicative. Maharashtra, Jai!”
“A heartfelt thank you to Shri #UddhavThackeray ji for being Maharashtra’s progressive, proactive, and caring Chief Minister.”
