Mallika Sherawat, who was last seen in Ekta Kapoor’s horror-comedy web series Booo Sabki Phategi in 2019, is set to make her big screen debut in Rajat Kapoor’s upcoming film RK/RKAY. Gulabo will be played by the actress in the film. Rajat plays a dual role in the Indian filmmaking comedy, alongside Ranvir Shorey and Kubbra Sait.
Mallika has been posting clips from the film on her Instagram account. “Making of Gulabo for my upcoming film Rk/RKay, it was such a challenge to get the right 60’s look in terms of the hair do, right colour of lipstick, fabric etc RK/RKay releases theatrically 22 July, see you at the movies,” the actress wrote alongside a BTS video from the set.
The film’s release date
On July 22, the film will be released in theatres. Several international film festivals have already screened and praised the comedy film, including the Shanghai International Film Festival, the River To River Festival in Florence, the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, the Austin Film Festival, and the Pune International Film Festival.

The film will tell the story of an anxious director named RK who has just finished shooting his new film when he receives a disturbing phone call from the editing room stating that the protagonist of the film is missing from the film negatives. The story then moves into the world behind the scenes of the film industry, where RK and his team search for the protagonist.
Rajat Kapoor, who is known for his work as a director in films such as ‘Mithya’ and ‘Ankhon Dekhi,’ directed the film.
