After the digital release of his film Gali Guleiyan, Manoj Bajpayee breathed a sigh of relief. The actor has now revealed that he was on the verge of losing his mental stability while filming his role, forcing him to halt production for a while. The psychological drama is now available on Amazon Prime.
Manoj wrote on Friday, sharing a poster of Gali Guleiyan on Instagram, “Out now. I was on the verge of losing my mental stability while preparing for this role, so I had to call it quits. Gali Guleiyan, one of the most difficult and rewarding roles I’ve ever played, is now available on Amazon Prime.”
He went on to say that the film’s release in India would be a challenge “The film has won numerous awards at national and international film festivals around the world. However, I wanted the film to be available to my country’s audience, but getting this done has been a struggle that has finally paid off. I can’t express how thrilled and excited I am to share this with all of you, and I hope you enjoy the film as much as I do. Dipesh Jain, the film’s writer, director, and producer, has led this project admirably. Congratulations to the film’s cast and crew for their efforts in creating this masterpiece.”
Manoj had previously shared two images from the film’s set and referred to the role as his “Mt Everest” as an actor. He was seen in a dishevelled state in a Delhi lane. “Looking back at these pictures sends shivers down my spine,” he wrote on Instagram. As an actor, this was my Mount Everest.”
Dipesh Jain directs and produces Gali Guleiyan. It tells the story of a man (Manoj Bajpayee) who is trapped within the walls and alleys of Old Delhi and his own mind, and how he tries to break free in order to find a human connection. In The Shadows is the English title, and it also stars Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi, and Shahana Goswami in pivotal roles.
