She revealed that the decision to divorce was not hers, leaving her ‘devastated’ and unsure of what to do next. Meagan was open about her difficulties after the marriage, saying she did not expect what happened between her parents to happen between her and DeVon.

Meagan Good discusses her divorce from DeVon Franklin and the challenges she faced as a result of the fallout in her first ESSENCE solo cover interview. “It’s nothing I would have ever chosen, and when I realised it was happening, I was devastated,” she said. This is me, Lord, I thought. I did everything in my power to the best of my ability. “I’m not sure why I did all of these things, and then this is the end result.”

She stated that she still thinks of DeVon as an amazing and lovely person. She confirmed that neither of them had any ill will towards the other.

She described her difficult period as follows: “That was difficult for me. I was thinking, I’m not sure if I should be celibate right now. ‘I’m at a loss for what to do.’ I was even at a point early on when I felt, obviously, I still believe in Jesus, but I’m not sure what else to believe.”

According to her, the divorce was especially difficult because she did not want to repeat her parents’ experience. Her parents had also divorced after a decade of marriage. “That was tough because my biggest fear was that what happened between my mom and dad would happen to me, which is that you’ve been with your husband for ten years and you break up,” she explained.
