In an interview, Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah talked about how there are different rules for men and women in every home, and Mira Rajput agreed with them. Vidya and Shefali were talking about how they are often interrupted on the phone while they are working, but their husbands, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Vipul Amrutlal Shah, don’t have that problem.
Mira, who is married to the actor Shahid Kapoor, agreed with what Vidya and Shefali said and said that a woman’s work should be respected. Mira put a video of it on her Instagram Stories and wrote about it with clapping emojis “Equality starts at home and goes out from there. No matter what a woman does, her work should be respected. So the next time you think about cutting her call short, be ready to be asked what to make for dinner in the middle of yours.”
In March, Vidya and Shefali said this in an interview with Quint. They were there to promote their movie Jalsa. SheThePeople recently posted the video to their Instagram account, which caught Mira’s eye.
In the interview, Vidya said, “Siddharth and I are both on calls right now. They don’t mind interrupting me, but they don’t like it when they do it to Siddharth. No matter what I do, I think they just think the man is working and the woman isn’t. I think somewhere at home you’re just… They think it’s okay and that the woman can be interrupted.”
Shefali also talked about a similar thing that happened to her when she went to the 2019 Sundance Film Festival to see a screening of her Netflix show Delhi Crime. She told me, “You’re talking about the cook or someone who helps you coming to ask. In my case, my son calls me over and over. I’m in the audience, and I send him a message saying, “Hey, baby, I’m in the middle of my first screening of Delhi Crime at Sundance.” “Send me the OTP,” he says (repeatedly)… I said, “Are you kidding?””
The movie Jalsa, in which Vidya and Shefali played the two main roles, came out on Amazon Prime Video on March 18. In the movie, Vidya played a famous journalist, and Shefali Shah played her cook, whose daughter gets hurt in a hit-and-run accident.
