Actress Neetu Chandra has spoken about an incident in which a businessman told her she could “become his salaried wife” for a monthly salary of Rs 25 lakh. Neetu stated in a new interview that despite working with “13 National award winners,” she does not have money or work. She also recalled an audition in which a well-known casting director turned her down within an hour.
Neetu made her Bollywood debut in the 2005 film Garam Masala, playing an air hostess. She has appeared in several films since then, including Traffic Signal, One Two Three, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, Apartment, and 13B. Her most recent Hindi film was Kucch Luv Jaisaa, in which she co-starred with Shefali Shah, Rahul Bose, and Sumeet Raghavan. The National Film Award for Best Popular Film went to Oye Lucky Lucky Oye. Mithila Makhaan, Neetu’s film, also won a National Award.
“Meri story ek successful actor ki failure story hai,” Neetu told Bollywood Hungama (My story is a failure story of a successful actor). I have no work today despite having worked with 13 National award winners and in such big films. A big businessman told me that he would pay me 25 lakh per month if I became his salaried wife. I don’t have any money and no job. I’m worried because I feel unwelcome here after putting in so much effort.”
