Indian TV reality shows are often criticised for promoting sob stories of contestants to generate audience sympathy. Singer Sonu Nigam, who has been long associated with singing reality shows, has even called it a “marketing thing.” However, Urmila Matondkar, a Bollywood actor who will soon be seen as a judge on the dance reality show DID Super Moms, has assured viewers that the show will only promote talent and not sob stories.
In a recent interview with The Times of India, Urmila stated that contestants’ personal stories will be shown only to project their journeys and how hard they worked to reach the platform. “People should be aware of their journey and the effort they have put in,” she remarked.
The actor, who previously judged Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, stated that the candidates on DID Super Moms were picked on merit rather than their “emotional history.” She remarked, “We have made sure that only those ones who are talented enough, they move ahead.”
DID Super Moms will also be evaluated by Maine Pyar Kiya star Bhagyashree and choreographer Remo D’ Souza, in addition to Urmila. Jay Bhanushali, who currently hosts DID L’il Masters, will host the third season of the reality programme, which will feature moms of different ages.
