Ranbir Kapoor recently revealed that he has lied to his mother Neetu Kapoor the most in his life. He also remembered her catching him after smoking his first cigarette. He went on to say that he begged forgiveness at the time, and his parents eventually stopped smoking.
Ranbir Kapoor is the late Rishi Kapoor’s and Neetu Kapoor’s son. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar was his most recent film. During the film’s promotion, Ranbir was asked to name the person to whom he had lied the most.
Ranbir told RJ Siddharth Kannan during a conversation, “I’ve lied the most to my mother. I used to get smacked a lot because I was a jerk. I’m a different man now.” He was then questioned about the lie that got him into trouble.
“When I first smoked a cigarette, my mother found out,” Ranbir continued. It was a particularly dark period in my life. It was a dark moment; I’d never seen my mother so distraught. You feel bad because she thought I was doing heroin. I profusely apologised and begged forgiveness. But, I suppose, parents eventually give up.”
Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar features Ranbir opposite Shraddha Kapoor for the first time. Luv Ranjan directed the romantic comedy, which was released on March 8. “Director Luv Ranjan’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, is a film that plays with extremes,” wrote the Hindustan Times in its review. The funny parts are hilarious, and the boring parts are unbearably boring.”
“The characters are confident and beautiful onscreen, which Ranjan capitalises on by showing countless close-up shots of them crying, laughing, kissing, or shamelessly ogling at each other.
In parts, it feels like a mash-up of Ranbir Kapoor’s earlier films, and then Ranjan peppers it with signature rom-com flavour, drawing inspiration from Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety – oh, and there are cameos that give it a crossover feel. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, on the other hand, never comes together as a wholesome, perfect script that you would wholeheartedly applaud,” it added.
Ranbir will next be seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. Rashmika Mandanna also appears in the film. Animal, starring Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol, is set to be released later this year.
