Sachin Tendulkar has responded to the recently released trailer for the cricket film Shabaash Mithu, which is based on Mithali Raj’s life and times. Former national cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly shared the teaser on social media. The two-minute trailer opens with Mithali’s childhood narrative. It subsequently continues on to how she began playing, her practises, being captain, and the challenges of being a woman in a sport like cricket. Taapsee will play the lead in the film, which will be released in theatres on July 15.

The trailer for Shabaash Mithu, starring Taapsee, was released on June 20. Mithali Raj, noted for her record-breaking 23-year international cricket career, scored over 10,000 runs in ODIs. The film chronicles her path to becoming a great cricketer and an inspiration to billions of girls and women worldwide. Mithali’s recent retirement from all forms of cricket is commemorated in the video.

Sachin Tendulkar gave the Shabaash Mithu team a thumbs up when the trailer was released. Sachin posted a message on Twitter. “The #ShabaashMithuTrailer is uplifting. Mithali has encouraged millions to dream and pursue their dreams, and I am forward to see this film. Best wishes to everyone on the squad (sic).”

Message-driven film
The filmmakers have raised the subject of gender inequality by depicting Mithali Raj’s journey. The trailer encapsulates the theme of ‘Nazariya badlo, khel badalgaya’ to the hilt with riveting lines and glimpses of the amazing Taapsee acting Mithali with uttermost conviction. The film will be released in theatres on July 15th, directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Viacom18 Studios.
