Amit Jain replaces Ashneer Grover and Ghazal Alagh in the second season of Shark Tank India. Sony Entertainment Television revealed the new shark in a promo on Tuesday. Amit Jain is the co-founder and CEO of Car Dekho, an online marketplace for buying and selling used vehicles.
Ashneer founded the fintech company BharatPe. He was fired and embroiled in a lot of controversy earlier this year for an alleged fraud. He was a fan favourite among the audience because of his no-nonsense demeanour, but he and Ghazal will not be returning, despite the fact that the other five sharks will.
Amit is the sole newcomer. He is from Jaipur and went to IIT Delhi. He worked for a company in Austin, Texas for a while before launching his first startup there. He later co-founded Car Dekho with his brother in 2007, which he described as a “billion dollar company” on the HT Smartcast show Minding My Business: The CEO Story.
When asked whether he makes tough business decisions with his head or his heart, he replied, “I think I am both, depending on the context.” Most of the time, I am very objective. When it comes to people, I am more heart-centered, and when it comes to business, I am more head-centered.” “We are now in South East Asia,” he said of expanding his brand into other countries. We have already done business in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. It’s been a promising start.”
Returning sharks include Vineeta Singh of Sugar Cosmetics, Anupam Mittal of Shaadi.com, Peyush Bansal of Lenskart, Namita Thapar of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, and Aman Gupta of BoAt.
