Over the course of six seasons, Koffee With Karan has become synonymous with gossip and controversy. And it appears that Season 7 will be no exception. The trailer for Karan Johar’s popular show, Koffee with Karan 7, was released on Saturday, ahead of the show’s return next week, and it shows how the upcoming season of Karan Johar’s popular show will up the ante.
The complete list of this season’s celebrity guests is not yet available, but the trailer revealed some intriguing pairings. Ranveer Singh will co-star with Alia Bhatt in Gully Boy and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, Anil Kapoor will co-star with Varun Dhawan, and Ananya Panday will co-star with Vijay Deverakonda in Liger. Akshay Kumar and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, and Kiara Advani and Shahid Kapoor were among the other couples. The trailer had several highlights, including Ranveer claiming to have multiple’sex playlists,’ Sara making a sarcastic remark about her ‘ex,’ and Samantha accusing Karan of being the cause of many ‘unhappy marriages.’
Karan previously stated that the essence of the show was to be candid and have fun, but that this has become more difficult as people have become more cautious about what they say on the show. “Everyone is like, ‘will you ask me about this?’ or ‘will you not ask me about this?'” Karan told Film Companion. Can you remove that? What happened to candour? What happened to good old repartee and casual interviewing? I mean, I’ve gotten cricketers in trouble and I have nothing to do with them, yet I’ve managed to do so.”
Karan Johar revealed that Ranbir Kapoor has flatly refused to do the show because he believes that one’s performance on the couch can shape one’s “public perception.” Ranbir told the filmmaker-turned-host what he told him. “I will not be appearing on your show.” He says, “I’ve been paying the price for this for far too long.” Why should I subject myself to this? ‘I love you, and I’ll meet you at your house and talk to you,’ he said. You make coffee for me at home. However, I will not be attending the show,” Karan stated.
The show’s new season was announced earlier this year. Previous seasons were broadcast on Star World. However, the show will now be available on Disney+Hotstar beginning July 7.
