Shalin Bhanot, a Bigg Boss 16 contestant, has spoken out about the upcoming marriage of his former wife, Dalljiet Kaur. Dalljiet and Shalin divorced after six years of marriage when she accused him of domestic violence. Dalljiet is getting married in March and plans to relocate to Africa after the wedding.
Dalljiet announced her engagement to businessman Nikhil Patel in Nepal last month. She plans to relocate to Kenya after the marriage, but she has stated that she will bring her son Jaydon to India to meet his father Shalin.
Shalin told ETimes that he didn’t know anything about Dalljiet’s upcoming wedding. As a result, I won’t be able to comment on it. I’ve just stepped outside. Apart from one sentence said by Salman Khan sir on one of the weekend episodes, this is new to me. “All I can say is God bless her.”
Dalljiet and Shalin met while working on the 2006 TV show Kulvaddhu and married three years later in December 2009. Jaydon, Shalin and Dalljiet’s son, was born only a year before she accused Shalin of domestic violence and filed for divorce in 2015.
She has, however, stood by Shalin throughout his Bigg Boss journey. She frequently shared videos endorsing him and urging fans to vote for him.
Shalin cried while reading a letter from his family on Bigg Boss 16 last year. “Shalin, I’ve not seen Bigg Boss in a long time but came across this, I wish you well for this journey ahead,” Dalljiet wrote on Instagram Stories after sharing a video of his emotional breakdown. Play honestly. “Experiment with your heart.” Dalljiet had previously appeared in the Salman Khan-hosted reality show Bigg Boss 13 in 2019.
Shalin and Dalljiet appeared on Nach Baliye together and won the fourth season of the dance reality show in 2009. Dalljiet has appeared in several shows, including Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Kaala Teeka, and Sasural Genda Phool 2.
We asked Shalin about Dalljiet giving love and marriage another chance, among other things. “I don’t know anything,” he admitted. As a result, I won’t be able to comment on it. I’ve just stepped outside. Apart from one sentence said by Salman Khan sir on one of the weekend episodes, this is new to me. “All I can say is God bless her.”
Shalin is proud of his journey and reaching the final leg of the show, despite being the first of the five finalists to be evicted. “I feel enlightened and excited,” he says. You can be self-confident, but your inner voice says, ‘Listen, agar aisa hua toh.’ It had been telling me, ‘Tu pata nahi cross karega ki nahi, ek aur hafta, ek aur hafta, ek aur hafta, ek aur hafta, ek aur hafta, ek aur hafta,’ and I had finally made it to the finale. You have no idea how wonderful this is for me.”
On the job front, he landed a new gig before his time on the show ended. On the show’s finale, producer Ekta Kapoor announced that she has cast her as the male lead in her upcoming show. When asked if his time on Bigg Boss 16 has given his career a much-needed boost, he responds, “Of course. It’s been an incredible experience. Imagine Simi Grewal telling me that I was her favourite contestant, and Ranveer Singh complimenting me as well. Who exactly is Shalin Bhanot? I’ve done work and received a lot of love, but I’m not quite social media savvy enough to understand the magnitude of this journey yet.
I am a loner; I don’t attend too many parties or award functions. So, I have limited interaction with people. I do my job and go home. And here big guys like Ranveer Singh and Salman sir are copying a gesture (the hand movement) of mine. Can you imagine that? We copy Shah Rukh Khan sir and Salman Khan sir and here, the one and only Salman sir is copying my gesture. After that, a lot of people came on the show and imitated the gesture. So, I don’t know about the career. Of course, I am looking forward to great opportunities. This journey has been meditative and has brought me closer to my soul. I am a fighter and have fought many adverse situations inside the house to be here (smiles).”
