On social media, stars like Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and others called for the US gun lobby to be gotten rid of so that strong steps could be taken to stop mass shootings in the future.
Officials say that an 18-year-old gunman opened fire at a Texas elementary school on Tuesday, killing at least 19 children as he went from classroom to classroom. This was the deadliest school shooting in nearly a decade and the latest gruesome event for a country that has been scarred by a string of massacres. Law enforcement killed the person who did this. Authorities say that two adults were also among the people who died. One of them was a teacher, according to Governor Greg Abbott.
Selena Gomez, a singer, took to Twitter to talk about how upset she was about the deaths. “Today, 18 students were killed in my home state of Texas while they were just trying to go to school. A teacher was killed while doing her job, which is very important but often undervalued. If kids can’t feel safe at school, where can they?
