Shubhangi Atre, who portrays Angoori Bhabhi in Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai, has confirmed her divorce from her husband. The actor stated that they are still friendly for the sake of their daughter.
Shubhangi Atre of Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai has reportedly divorced her husband, Piyush Poorey, after 19 years of marriage. In a recent interview, the actor, who plays Angoori Bhabhi on the TV show, discussed their divorce and stated that the former couple remains cordial for the sake of their daughter, Ashi, who is reportedly 18 years old.
Shubhangi Atre stated that she and Piyush have been living apart for nearly a year and that reconciliation appears unlikely. The former couple reportedly married when Shubhangi was 19 in their hometown of Indore. The actor opened up about how their separation is ‘still difficult’ as she confirmed the news in an interview.
“We haven’t lived together in almost a year. Piyush and I tried everything we could to save our marriage. Mutual respect, companionship, trust, and friendship form the foundation of a strong marriage. “However, we eventually realised that we couldn’t resolve our differences and decided to give each other space and focus on our individual lives and careers,” Shubhangi told The Times of India.
Shubhangi went on to say that she and her estranged husband are still friendly for the sake of their daughter. Shubhangi stated that he meets their daughter on Sundays because she does not want her daughter to be deprived of her father’s love.
“It’s still difficult,” Shubhangi said. My family is my top priority, and we all want our families to be close to us. However, some damages are irreversible. When a long-term relationship ends, it is bound to have an impact on you mentally and emotionally. I was also affected, but we had to take this step, and I’ve accepted it. Mental stability is critical.
Adversity, I have always believed, teaches you a lesson. Her daughter deserved to be loved by both her mother and father. Piyush visits her on Sundays. I don’t want her to miss out on her father’s love.”
Shubhangi debuted on television in 2006 with Kasautii Zindagii Kay and has since appeared in shows such as Kasturi and Chidiya Ghar. Shubhangi Atre credited her acting career to her now-ex-husband in an old interview.
“I wasn’t alone when I was taking my first steps in this industry. My husband was by my side the entire time. Furthermore, I was a mother to a two-year-old daughter named Ashi, and leaving her at home to pursue my career left me in a quandary. “The first few years of my career were full of ups and downs, but my family became my strength,” Shubhangi said in a 2019 interview.
Shubhangi Atre, who will celebrate her birthday on April 11, believes that it is a day to reflect and count her blessings.
“I firmly believe that life does come full circle, and that it is then necessary to reflect on what remains undone. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have achieved my goals, but I still want to explore my options as a performer. “My only wish is to keep acting forever — because I need to work constantly to keep going,” the Kasturi and Adhuri Kahaani Hamari actor says.
Atre, as usual, prefers to celebrate his birthday at work. “For me work is everything and the team of my on-going show is like my second family. So I’ll celebrate both at home and on set, as this is the type of birthday I always look forward to. My true celebration and gift to myself, however, will be a weekend getaway. It will be all about me. I plan to read, meditate, and listen to music. Those uninterrupted hours will be spent exactly how I want.”

I’ve been working on this show for six years. It gave me wings as an artist and forced me to explore my abilities as an actor to the fullest. At times, I’m surprised to see myself on screen,” says Atre, who recently appeared in the short film Wanted MR Kohli.
