Suniel Shetty, who was in Raipur for an event, also broke his silence on the ongoing social media boycott trends and how they have affected some of the recently released films. During the event, he answered several media questions. During the event, he said of the boycott trend, “We have done a lot of good work as well.” However, people may be dissatisfied with the subjects of today’s films, which is why we are having such a difficult time.
Hopefully, this will be taken into account. Initially, it seemed like a one-time occurrence, but now we’re seeing that people aren’t going to the movies, and I can’t put my finger on why or what’s causing this.”
Suniel has spoken out in response to the growing trend of social media film boycotts. Recently, Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ faced the wrath of the boycott trend, as both films underperformed at the box office.
Anupam Kher spoke candidly about the boycott culture on social media, which many believe is the driving force behind Bollywood films failing at the box office, in an exclusive interview with India TV. Kher stated that audiences have the right to decide whether or not to watch certain content, and that filmmakers and actors should focus on the subject of the films rather than “crying over the boycott culture.”
According to Kher, “The Kashmir Files was also boycotted. Many well-known critics advised against watching it. The Accidental Prime Minister experienced the same thing. We didn’t cry about it. The content is crucial. Nikhil (Siddhartha) is not well-known in the Hindi belt, but I’ve heard people whistling in movie theatres after seeing Karthikeya 2. We enjoy coining new terms, such as “boycott culture.” A film critic has the authority to tell people whether or not to watch a film. However, this does not mean that the audience will not watch it. Anyone can be made or broken by the audience.”
The new trend has sparked mass hysteria, with many actors fearing it will harm the business of their films.
