Urvashi Dholakia, an actress, has stated that she is stereotyped in negative roles. The actor also stated that she no longer auditions for negative roles. Urvashi is best known for her role as Komolika in Ekta Kapoor’s 2001 TV show Kasautii Zindagii Kayy.
Urvashi appeared as Shilpa in the comedy show Dekh Bhai Dekh after making her acting debut in the Doordarshan TV show Shrikant. In the popular 1990s show, she collaborated with actors Shekhar Suman, Navin Nischol, and Farida Jalal. Urvashi’s character Komolika from Kasautii Zindagii Kii was popular in the 2000s.
When asked if she had become typecast as a vamp, Urvashi told News, “I still struggle to get work.” There is a problem because of the whole typecasting thing. Of course, there is a problem,” she admitted, adding that she no longer auditions for TV shows.
“I am also of the opinion that if someone calls me for an audition, especially for a negative role, I will not even acknowledge it.” Because that would be completely illogical in my mind. But if someone has a completely different role in mind for me, I wouldn’t blame them for inviting me to an audition. It is also beneficial to me if I am able to deliver, if they wish to view me differently. “That’d be great,” she said.
From October 29, 2001 to February 28, 2008, Kasautii Zindagi Kayy aired. Shweta Tiwari, Cezzane Khan, and Ronit Roy also appeared in the show. From 2018 to 2020, Star Plus aired a reboot of the show, also titled Kasautii Zindagii Kay.
Urvashi has also appeared in television shows like Waqt Ki Raftar, Ghar Ek Mandir, Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii, and Kahiin To Hoga. She won the winner’s trophy in 2012 after competing in the sixth season of Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss 6. She also played Queen Iravati in the television series Chandrakanta.
