On Tuesday afternoon, the official trailer for Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi’s series Dharavi Bank was released. The show is set in Mumbai and tells the story of a cop attempting to depose a powerful gangster who serves as Mumbai’s de facto government. Fans praised the trailer for its violent and gritty approach.
In the trailer’s opening scenes, a menacing Suniel Shetty interrogates a rather stubborn man about a file. Suniel’s character murders the man in cold blood because he refuses to reveal the information. Following that rather violent cold open, we see Suniel’s Thalaivan rule the Dharavi Bank, a de facto industry with talons in everything from shipping ports to sports, real estate to politicians. A voice over says, “But there is no proof against this powerful man.”
Enter supercop Vivek Oberoi, who promises that the Mumbai Police Force will not only stop but also demolish this nexus. Vivek kicks some butt on the roads of suburban Mumbai and in the dingy bylanes of Dharavi in the video that follows. A scheming politician, played by Sonali Kulkarni, warns Vivek’s character that Thalaivan is out of reach, but it’s clear that Vivek isn’t going down without a fight.

“Suniel Shetty, who makes his digital debut with this show, will be seen as Thalaivan – the unattainable kingpin of Dharavi Bank,” according to the official synopsis. JCP Jayant Gavaskar, played by the versatile Vivek Anand Oberoi, is determined to bring down this empire. This is a fight for family, honour, power, and duty for each of them – but who will have the final say?”
Suniel Shetty says of his role as Thalaivan, “He is powerful, ruthless, and the most giving to those he considers his family, the people of Dharavi.” During the production of the show, I realised how OTT allows you to really dive into your character, and Thalaivan was the ideal digital debut for me.” “Dharavi Bank is a complex story that goes beyond just bringing down a crime empire,” Vivek Anand Oberoi says of his decision to play the cop. It demonstrates how far one can go for family, duty, and morality.”
The series, directed by Samit Kakkad and produced by Zee Studios, also has an ensemble supporting cast that includes Luke Kenny, Freddy Daruwala, Shanthi Priya, Santosh Juvekar, Nagesh Bhosle, and Siddharth Menon. Beginning November 19, all episodes of this thriller will be available on MX Player.
