Katrina Kaif once asked Ranbir Kapoor if he was drunk after he claimed responsibility for the success of her songs Sheila Ki Jawani, Chikni Chameli, Mashallah, and Kamli. During a media interview in 2017, ahead of the release of their film Jagga Jasoos, Ranbir also stated that he taught her ‘expressions and variations’ for the songs, but she expressed “no gratitude.”
Katrina has appeared in several popular songs, including Tees Maar Khan’s Sheila Ki Jawani (2010). Mashallah from Ek Tha Tiger, Chikni Chameli from Agneepath (2012), and Kamli from Dhoom 3 were also roles he played (2013).
During the interview, Ranbir stated, “She is the superhit machine; every film of hers is a superhit.” We used to joke that if she just touched our film, it would instantly become a smash hit. In the film industry, I don’t believe there has ever been a bigger star than Katrina. Every generation, every decade, a new superstar emerges, and I believe Katrina’s achievements have been truly incredible, and I hope she can double them in the next ten years.
“It’s a little difficult for me,” the actor said of his dancing abilities. I’m not as talented as she is, but the way she dances is amazing. Few people know that I was instrumental in making Sheila Ki Jawani, Chikni Chameli, Mashallah, Kamli, and other amazing songs a success. I used to make her practise and teach her different expressions and variations. There has been no expression of gratitude on your part.” Katrina turned around and asked, “Peeke aya hai kya?”
Katrina and Ranbir reportedly dated for several years before calling it quits in 2016. They appeared together in a number of films, including Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009), Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti (2010), and Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos (2017).
Katrina will next be seen in the horror-comedy Phone Bhoot, which will be released on November 4th. Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaturvedi also appear in the film. She is working on several other projects, including Tiger 3 with Salman Khan and Merry Christmas with Vijay Sethupathi. She has also been cast in the film Jee Le Zaraa, alongside Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra.
Ranbir will next be seen in Brahmastra, a film starring Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna. The Ayan Mukerji-directed film will be released in theatres on September 9. He also has Animal by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film is set to be released in theatres on August 11, 2023.
