Sanjay Dutt, the actor, once discussed an incident from his drug-taking days. Sanjay, along with actor Jackie Shroff, appeared on the Salman Khan-hosted game show Dus Ka Dum a few years ago. On the show, Jackie Shroff asked Sanjay to discuss drugs in order to make college students aware of the effects they can have on a person’s life.
“Drugs are a useless thing,” Sanjay had said. The actor then discussed an incident, “Room mein jaake sogaya main, ek time mai ekdum solid nasha karke aaya. Din ka time tha 7-8 baje toh bhook lagi thi. Main ek naukar ko bola, bohut purana naukar tha, bola’thoda khaana dede I felt hungry when I woke up around 7-8 a.m. ‘Give me food,’ I said to my housekeeper, who had been with me for several years.”
“‘Do din k baad tu khaana maang raha hai,’ bola, ‘toh woh rone laga.’ ‘Do din kaha?’ says Maine. ‘Main kal raat ko soya tha.’ ‘Nahi tu do din pehle soya tha,’ says Usne bola. Our hosh hi nahi tha. Usdin maine chodh dunga ki maine decide kiya. Yeh drugs kuch nahi, best zindagi ka nasha (As a result, he began to cry and said, ‘You are asking for food after two days.’) ‘How is it two days?’ I inquired. I slept well last night.’ ‘No, you slept two days ago,’ he replied. I wasn’t in my right mind. That day, I made the decision to stop using drugs. Drugs are a waste of time; the best intoxication is the intoxication of life).”
Sanjay has always been open about his involvement with drugs. Sanjay told Ranveer Allahabadia earlier this year, “I was very shy, especially with women, so I started it to look cool.” You do it, and you become a cooler guy with the ladies because you converse with them. I spent ten years of my life in my room or the bathroom, not interested in shoots. But that’s how life is, and how everything changed. People used to call me charsi when I returned from rehab (addict). And I thought to myself, galat hai yeh (this is incorrect).”
Sanjay was most recently seen in Yash Raj Films’ period drama Shamshera, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani Kapoor. The film, directed by Karan Malhotra, failed to wow audiences at the box office. He will next be seen in the upcoming family entertainer film Ghudchadi, starring Raveena Tandon, Parth Samthan, and Khushali Kumar. Binoy Gandhi is directing the film, which is being produced by T-series and Keep Dreaming Pictures.
